With the Chronograph 1 GP2022 Edition Porsche Design marks its anniversary with a special chronograph as part of the 2022 GP Ice Race. Ferdinand Porsche, Professor F. A. Porsche’s nephew and organizer of the GP Ice Race since 2019, developed the Chronograph 1 – GP 2022 Edition together with Porsche Design. Like the Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition, this timepiece is based on the original 1972 model and limited exclusively to 50 watches.
The GP 2022 Edition boasts optimal readability and maximum contrast thanks to its white second hands, fluorescent hour markers, seven-layer anti-glare and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal face with hard coating, and exceptionally luminous Super-LumiNova® on the matte black dial. It is powered by the Porsche Design WERK 1.140 caliber with COSC certification, which was developed at the manufactory in Solothurn and features an innovative quick-change date display and the day displayed in two languages.
With a 40.8 mm case, which is dynamically water-resistant up to 10 bar, and a link bracelet with a folding clasp made of high-tech titanium, the GP 2022 Edition also comes equipped with a white textile strap that allows the watch to be easily worn over a ski jacket or racing suit. Nothing will stand in the way of timekeeping, even during the so called daredevil skijoring where the skiers are pulled by a car.
The exclusive collector‘s box granting safe transports, e.g. during travelling, is becoming available to the 50 GP 2022 Edition owners only. The package will be completed by the Edition poster and 2 GP-stickers („22“), limited to 50 pcs each. Delivery is going to be made directly from Team GP @ Zell/See –please address yourself to team@gpicerace.com submitting serial and ltd.ed. no. of your personal GP 2022 Edition chronograph.
The engraving on the case back is a nod to the ‘Fetzenflieger’. It pays homage to Otto Mathé who crossed the finish line in record time in 1956 driving his self-built car based on a Porsche
